So Their Neighbors Don’t Go Hungry ❤️

NORTHEAST IOWA ~ Every fall, schools across Northeast Iowa compete in all kinds of ways.
But this October, some students are competing for something far more meaningful than a trophy.
They’re competing to help feed their neighbors.
Beginning October 5 and continuing through November 6, students from ten Northeast Iowa schools are taking part in the Northeast Iowa Food Bank’s Annual Student Food Drive~ working together through food collections and fundraising efforts to help stock shelves and provide meals for families facing food insecurity.
Among the participating schools are Turkey Valley, Nashua~Plainfield, Charles City, Hudson, Janesville, and several others throughout the region.
While each school hopes to do well, this is one competition where everyone wins.
Families receive help.
Food shelves receive support.
And students discover just how much good they can do when they work together.
Last year’s Student Food Drive raised more than $16,000 to support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank’s mission of helping neighbors throughout the region.
That’s a pretty incredible reminder that young people can make a real difference.
More Than a Competition
This isn’t just about collecting canned goods or raising dollars.
It’s about teaching the next generation that kindness has the power to change lives.
Every donation represents someone choosing to care about a neighbor they may never meet.
Every box filled, every can collected and every dollar donated becomes hope for a family who could use a helping hand.
Perhaps that’s one of the greatest lessons learned outside the classroom.
How You Can Help
If your local school is participating, consider supporting their efforts by donating nonperishable food items or contributing through one of their fundraising activities.
Sometimes the smallest act of generosity becomes part of something much bigger.
And this October, students across Northeast Iowa are reminding us that school pride isn’t measured only by wins and losses.
Sometimes…
It’s measured by how many neighbors you choose to help.
❤️ Word ‘Round Town applauds these young people for showing that compassion, teamwork and community spirit are always worth celebrating.
