BOONE, IOWA ~If there’s a little train fan in your family, or maybe a grown~up one who never quite outgrew Thomas~ there’s still one more weekend to climb aboard!
Day Out With Thomas returns to the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum for its final three days of 2026:
🚂 Friday, September 18 ~ Noon~5:00 p.m.
🚂 Saturday, September 19 ~ 9:00 a.m.~5:00 p.m.
🚂 Sunday, September 20 ~ 10:00 a.m.~4:00 p.m.
And this isn’t just a chance to see that familiar blue engine sitting at the station.
Families can take a real train ride with a life~sized Thomas the Tank Engine, enjoy music-based activities, live entertainment and games, take a ride on a real electric trolley, and spend some time exploring the railroad museum.

Thomas and Boone have quite a history together, too. The Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad first welcomed Thomas to Iowa in 1997 ~ which means some of the little train fans who visited back then may now be bringing children of their own to meet him. ❤️
There’s something pretty special about watching a child see a favorite storybook and television character suddenly become very, very real, especially when that character comes rolling down the tracks!
So if your house includes a Thomas fan, this weekend may be a good excuse for a little Iowa road trip.
Pack some snacks, load up the kids and get ready to holler…
🚂💙 ALL ABOARD!
