REINBECK, IOWA ~ Sunday morning worship at Reinbeck Community Church came with a little something extra this week.
And apparently it required sprinkles.
On Sunday, August 30, the morning began where Sundays at church usually do ~ with worship, learning and time together. Children gathered at the front of the church for their lesson during the service before the morning eventually moved from the sanctuary to another kind of gathering.
Because after church…
it was time for ice cream.
Reinbeck Community Church celebrated Sundae Sunday, inviting people to stay after worship for sundaes, games and fellowship, with treats from The Milk House.
Soon the fellowship room was filled with people gathered around tables while volunteers went to work scooping ice cream and setting out the toppings.
And there were plenty of toppings.
Because if you’re going to call something Sundae Sunday, you’d better be prepared to defend that name with whipped cream and sprinkles.
But looking through the photographs from the day, something besides ice cream stands out.
There are different generations together.

Children learning during worship.
People sitting around tables visiting.

Volunteers standing behind the serving table.

And plenty of smiles.

The church thanked everyone who came to enjoy the day and everyone who helped put it together, closing its message with three simple phrases:
Know Christ. Grow Faith. Show Love. ❤️
Sometimes showing love is complicated.
Other times it’s remarkably simple.
Teach a child.
Pull up a chair.
Make room at the table.
And when the opportunity presents itself…
add the sprinkles. 🍨❤️
