🎃 Little Costumes, Big Smiles… and Hearts Young at Any Age! ❤️

Waukon Residents Invite Little Trick-or-Treaters for a Special Halloween Visit!

WAUKON, IOWA ~

Sometimes the sweetest part of Halloween isn’t what’s inside the candy bucket.

Sometimes it’s the smile on the other side of the door. ❤️

And tomorrow afternoon in Waukon, a little Halloween tradition offers families an opportunity to share something even sweeter than candy.

Residents of Good Samaritan Society and Evergreen Court Apartments are inviting children to come indoor trick~or~treating on Saturday, October 31, from 3 to 5 p.m.

It’s an invitation that brings together two generations who might have a whole lot more in common than we realize.

Because little children love dressing up.

And sometimes grown~ups who have celebrated more Halloweens than they can count still enjoy seeing a tiny pumpkin, a miniature firefighter, or a princess come walking through the door!

❤️ The Little Things That Mean So Much

Think about it for a moment.

A child spends all morning deciding which costume to wear.

Maybe the cape won’t stay straight.

Maybe the princess crown keeps slipping sideways.

And maybe somebody insists on wearing cowboy boots with a superhero outfit!

But once that little one steps inside and hears a cheerful greeting, none of those things matter.

There’s a treat to collect, a costume to show off, and perhaps a smile to share.

And for the older neighbor greeting that child?

Well, a moment like that might bring back memories of Halloweens long ago.

Of children who couldn’t wait to get outside.

Of homemade costumes and candy carefully counted on the living room floor.

Of years when the house was full of little footsteps and excited voices.

It’s funny how a familiar tradition can bring yesterday and today together.

🍬 A Visit Worth More Than What’s in the Candy Bucket

We often think of Halloween as something children enjoy.

But there’s a lovely opportunity in inviting children to celebrate alongside older members of the community.

The children get another place to enjoy the holiday.

The residents get a chance to welcome young visitors.

And families have an opportunity to show their children that community isn’t only about the people who live next door.

It’s also about remembering those who have spent a lifetime being part of the town we call home.

A friendly wave.

A cheerful hello.

A little voice saying, “Thank you!”

Such small things.

Yet sometimes those are the moments that stay with us.

🎃 Families, Here’s the Invitation!

Indoor Trick~or~Treating

3~5 p.m.

Good Samaritan Society and Evergreen Court Apartments

le Something to Remember

Years from now, a child probably won’t remember every piece of candy that went into that Halloween bucket.

But perhaps they’ll remember a kind face.

A warm greeting.

Or the happiness of someone who was delighted just to see them.

And maybe, for one of our older neighbors, that little visit will be a bright spot in the day.

Because sometimes the sweetest treat we can give somebody doesn’t come wrapped in paper.

Sometimes it comes with a smile, a little kindness, and a few moments of our time. ❤️
