Local Organizations Invest $65,000 in Waverly’s Youth Ball Fields

WAVERLY, IOWA ~ Sometimes the biggest victories don’t happen during the game.

Sometimes they happen long before the first pitch is ever thrown.

Several Waverly organizations have joined together to help improve the Cedar River Ball Diamonds, making an investment that will benefit young athletes and families for years to come.

The Greater Waverly Kiwanis Club and Friends of Kiwanis have committed $55,000 toward purchasing and installing new scoreboards.

Waverly Youth Baseball and Waverly Youth Softball are contributing an additional $10,000, bringing the total community investment to $65,000.

The project will provide new scoreboards for seven fields at the Cedar River Ball Diamonds, a recreational complex managed by the City of Waverly Parks and Recreation Department.

More Than Scoreboards

While new scoreboards may seem like a simple improvement, they represent something much bigger.

They represent a community choosing to invest in its children.

Behind every baseball or softball game are coaches giving their time, families cheering from the sidelines, volunteers helping keep programs running, and organizations working to create opportunities for young athletes.

These are the people who help make community sports possible.

And when organizations come together to support those efforts, the benefits reach far beyond the ball fields.

A Community Working Together

What makes this project especially meaningful is the cooperation behind it.

Rather than leaving the responsibility to one organization, local civic leaders and youth sports groups have joined forces to make the improvements possible.

For the young athletes who will eventually play beneath those new scoreboards, the project represents another investment in the places where friendships are made, teamwork is learned, and childhood memories take shape.

And for the community, it’s another example of what can happen when neighbors work toward a shared goal.

The Biggest Wins Aren’t Always on the Scoreboard

Years from now, the final scores of individual games may be forgotten.

But the opportunities created through this investment will continue benefiting young people who simply love to play.

Because sometimes the greatest community victories aren’t measured by runs scored or games won.

They’re measured by what we make possible for the next generation. ❤️
