✋ 1. Allamakee County’s Hannah Hagen Crowned Iowa Dairy Princess
Here’s something worth celebrating close to home!
18-year-old Hannah Hagen of Waterville was crowned the 73rd Iowa Dairy Princess during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Hannah is the ninth young woman from Allamakee County to be crowned Iowa Dairy Princess and will spend the coming year serving as a goodwill ambassador for Iowa’s dairy farmers.
She’ll help connect consumers with the farm families, cows, land and hard work behind the milk on our tables.
That deserves a hometown HIGH 5! 🐄👑✋
✋ 2. Decorah High School Ranks No. 2 in Iowa
There’s another reason for Northeast Iowa to be proud!
Decorah High School ranked No. 2 among Iowa public high schools in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
The rankings look at measures including state test performance and Advanced Placement participation.
Behind a ranking like that are students working hard, teachers showing up every day and families and communities supporting them along the way.

✋ 3. $400,000 Lead Gift Helps Waukon Forward Look Toward the FutureNow THAT is an investment in a community!
Waukon Forward, a group working to build a new long-term funding source for community projects, received a $400,000 lead gift from Waukon resident Lee Rothchild McGovern.
The effort is initially looking toward projects that improve health and wellness, outdoor recreation and amenities for families, while creating something that can benefit Waukon for generations to come.
The gift also sets the stage for an upcoming community challenge match.

✋ 4. A Donation Brings New Emergency Equipment to the Lansing Swimming Pool. Here’s a High 5 that could make a very real difference when seconds matter.
The Lansing Municipal Swimming Pool received a $500 gift from organizers of the Driftless Half Marathon, and the donation was quickly put to work purchasing new emergency-response equipment.
The pool added a new stabilization backboard, adult and child-size bag valve masks for resuscitation, and a new stabilization strap for its accessibility chair lift.
A community event helping make another community space safer?

✋ 5. Reinbeck Community Church Invites Everyone to “Sundae Sunday”
Church on Sunday followed by ice cream?
Yep. We can High 5 that! 🍨✋
Reinbeck Community Church is inviting everyone to Sundae Sunday, August 30, at 505 Spruce Street in Reinbeck.
The church service begins at 9:15 a.m., followed by sundaes from The Milk House and family games.
And perhaps the nicest part of the invitation is also the simplest:
