An Evening of Music for Grateful Hearts Offers a Peaceful Pause in Dubuque
DUBUQUE, IOWA ~
Have you ever had one of those days when everything seems to be making noise?
The telephone rings.
The to~do list grows.
Somebody needs something.
And just when you think you’ve caught up, life hands you three more things to think about!
Goodness gracious.
Sometimes we get so busy tending to everything around us that we forget to give ourselves a quiet moment.
Well, there’s a little something coming to Dubuque that invites folks to do just that.
On Thursday, November 5, Shalom Spirituality Center will host An Evening of Music for Grateful Hearts, a gathering centered on soothing sounds, reflection, and gratitude.
And perhaps the nicest part is that nobody has to arrive with everything in life figured out.
🎵 When Music Says What Words Cannot
Professional musician Desiree Irwin and sound~healing practitioner Morgan Noel will guide the evening, using a variety of instruments and their combined talents to create a relaxing listening experience.
Rather than a traditional concert where everyone simply sits and applauds, this gathering is designed to encourage participants to turn their attention inward.
To listen.
To reflect.
And perhaps to notice the thoughts and feelings that get crowded out by everyday responsibilities.
There’s something rather beautiful about that.
Music has a way of reaching places ordinary conversation sometimes cannot.
A familiar melody might bring back a treasured memory.
A gentle sound might remind us of someone we love.
And sometimes, simply sitting quietly for a little while can feel like a gift.
❤️ Gratitude Doesn’t Mean Life Has to Be Perfect
Now, here’s something worth remembering.
Being grateful doesn’t mean every day has been easy.
It doesn’t mean there haven’t been disappointments, worries, or moments when we wondered how we were going to get through everything.
Sometimes gratitude is much smaller than that.
It’s being thankful for a friend who called.
For a warm place to come home to.
For a kind word when we needed one.
Or for one peaceful hour when the world isn’t asking us to do another thing.
And perhaps that’s what makes an evening like this appealing.
It offers an opportunity to appreciate the present moment without demanding that life be perfect first.
🌿 Come Comfortable… Just as You Are
Shalom encourages participants to bring whatever will help them settle in comfortably.
That might be a pillow.
A blanket.
A yoga mat.
Or even an eye covering.
No previous experience with sound-healing sessions is necessary.
The gathering is intended to provide an opportunity to listen, relax, and share experiences with others if participants wish.
Of course, everyone’s experience with music and relaxation is different.
But the invitation is simple enough.
Set aside the rush for a little while.
Listen to the sounds.
And give yourself permission to enjoy a quieter moment.
